Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Repro!

Desktop Background Note:
Repro may turn-off the desktop background when it starts. If it does, it will re-enable your normal desktop upon exit. You can change this setting by clicking on the Repro System Tray Icon > Preferences > Video, and unchecking the box entitled "Disable desktop wallpaper while Repro is running". You can reduce performance overhead while recording and also reduce the size of the compressed Repro file by leaving this option checked.

Disable Display Acceleration Note:
Repro recommends disabling display acceleration while recording. Your screen will flicker when Repro starts up and shuts down. You can change this setting by clicking on the Repro System Tray Icon > Preferences > Video, and unchecking the box entitled 'Disable display acceleration while Repro is running'.

Follow these simple steps to get started quickly.

  1. Add application(s) to be instrumented.

When Repro starts for the first time it is not configured to instrument any applications. A dialog box appears asking you to go to the Preferences and select an application to instrument. You can also choose to continue without selecting an application to instrument.

To later select an application to instrument go to the Repro System Tray Icon... Preferences... Applications to instrument.

  2. Search for bugs in the application(s) you are testing.

  3. When you find a bug, create a Repro.
Double click on the Repro system tray icon or right click on the icon and select "Found a Bug."
  4. Indicate the timeframe within the bug occurred.
The "Repro- Found a Bug" dialog will appear. Enter the number of seconds you would like to see from the total number of seconds captured. Note: you will be able to further trim this length of time, but you will not be able to extend the length of time.
  5. Playback the Repro and trim to the appropriate time frame.
Specify the appropriate start and end times for the Repro by clicking the Trim Left and/or Trim Right toolbar buttons. By trimming the Repro you make it easier for people analyzing the Repro to understand the bug.
  6. Save or email the Repro.
Email the Repro directly by selecting File...Send, or save the Repro to you local disk.
  7. Continue to search for bugs (2).
